Postage Stamps

Okay, you know the cent numbers on stamps? Does it matter how much the stamp says to mail from virginia to calfornia? Or how much would the stamp need to say to mail from VA to California?
One more Q………..can you just put the mail in your mailbox and then the mail man picks it up while delivering mail?

I am graduating from college and going to send out invitations. The envelope size is about 5 inches by 8 inches. They are nice invitations with an inner and outer envelope. I have 40 cent stamps on them now but realized it is probably heavier than a normal envelope. So doesn’t it cost more? How much? THANKS!!! :o)

I am too far away to drive to the post office to weigh my single piece of mail. It is 3 page order form in a small envelope. I don’t know if that needs more than standard postage. I don’t know what 3 pcs of paper weighs. What is the Oz. limit and how many sheets of copy paper can I send on a single stamp?

I have rolls of postage stamps 500 and 3000 each, that need to be moistened before applying to a postcard or envelope. Years ago I used a postage stamp applicator that took a roll of stamps, you added some water, then pressed down on the card or envelope. The applicator moistened the stamp, cut it from the roll and applied it to the card/envelope. The only postage stamp applicators I can find online now are only to be used with self-adhesive stamps (my stamps are not self-adhesive.) Any ideas?
